- Short Description:  Gelf Magazine's Geeking Out Event
Introducing Geeking Out, a new monthly reading series from Gelf held at JLA Studios in DUMBO, Brooklyn--only one subway stop away from Manhattan! Geeking Out features some of the best science writers and researchers around. In the third week of each month, three of the brightest minds in the field will share their expertise at the Jan Larsen Art Studios in Brooklyn.
The first event--which has been specially scheduled to intersect with Tax Day!--will take place at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, April 15th. Our impressive lineup (click on each guest's name for Gelf's interview with him) includes former Discover Magazine editor-in-chief Paul Hoffman, author of King's Gambit: A Son, A Father, and the World's Most Dangerous Game; John Derbyshire, author of the mathematically-themed books Prime Obsession: Bernhard Riemann and the Greatest Unsolved Problem in Mathematics, and Unknown Quantity: A Real and Imaginary History of Algebra; and Glen Whitney, the founder of America's only math museum. The work of local artists will be on display as well. JLA Studios (Google Maps, Outside. In, JLA site) 63 Pearl St (between Water St. and Front St.) Brooklyn, NY 11201 Next to the F train.
